"THEN ALL THE GEESE ROSE INTO THE AIR..." ORIGINAL ART FROM THE WHITE GOOSE
Tasha Tudor. Oxford University Press, Inc., 1943. 5 7/16" x 5 7/16" exposed in mat.
Watercolor illustration published on page in THE WHITE GOOSE. In Tudor's French mat. A ight blue wash frame and gilt line border. The image shows Robin startled as the flock of eleven geese rise above him. Even 60 years later, this is a beautiful dreamy image. The colors are subtler than were published, the hair a delicate russet rather than the harsh red of the book. The mat covers some of the illustration, but that which is revealed is more than is seen in the book. No signature obvious. In Tudor's original French mat done for her at a Boston frame shop.F / NA.
