1 1/2" round.
The ball was cast in so that half of the body and half of the top lid were cast and then welded together to finish the piece. The two halves are hinged and open to receive (or empty) tea leaves. The lip edge of the top half is stamped STERLING with another character resembling a bird or shell. The stamping appears twice, on opposite sides of the rim. A clasp and nub on the front locks the two halves in use. A 3 3/4" chain is welded to the top, and also to a 3/4" ring at the other end.F / NA. Item #29600
