Tasha Tudor. 1991.
A commissioned watercolor of a young girl Emma Kate Wright who appears to be 7 or 8 years old. The art is unusual in that documented evidence shows that Tudor painted the image from photographs of the girl and the mother's requests for the final painting. Emma Kate is shown sitting on a settle holding a doll -- in Tudor's winter kitchen at Marlboro, VT. The room is outfitted with Tudor's possessions including an African gray parrot in a cage and a portion of Frederick Reading, the portrait of Tasha's brother that her mother painted.
We have not examined the art out of its frame . The exposed image measures 12 ½" x 16". The wood frame measures 19 5/8" x 23 1/4" Art and mats are under glass. The back is sealed under black paper.
